Overview

Kakuremi is a KeePass-compatible password manager for iOS, developed by SpringHiker Inc. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.

The short version: Kakuremi is a local-first password manager. Your passwords and vault data never leave your device, and there are no accounts, no cloud sync, no telemetry, and no analytics. A few optional features (off by default) make limited third-party requests, described under Network Access below.

Data Collection

Kakuremi does not collect any personal information. Specifically:

• No analytics or usage tracking
• No telemetry or crash reporting sent to us
• No advertising or ad tracking
• No user accounts or registration
• No cookies or web tracking

Network Access

Kakuremi works fully offline for its core function: opening and using your vault never requires an internet connection. A few optional features are off by default and make limited third-party requests only when you turn them on:

• Website icons — fetched from Google's favicon service. Only the site's domain is sent; never your credentials or vault contents.
• Password breach-check — uses Have I Been Pwned. Only a partial, anonymized hash of the password is sent (k-anonymity); the password itself is never transmitted.

Purchases are handled by Apple's StoreKit. Your passwords and vault data are never transmitted to us or any third party.

Data Storage

All data is stored exclusively on your device (or your own iCloud Drive, if you choose to store your database files there). SpringHiker Inc. has no access to your data at any time.

• KeePass database files (.kdbx) are stored in locations you choose on your device or your personal cloud storage.
• Decrypted vault contents exist only in memory while the app is unlocked and are zeroed when the app locks.
• Biometric data (Face ID / Touch ID) is processed entirely by iOS on-device. Kakuremi never receives or stores your biometric data.
• YubiKey authentication is processed on-device via NFC. No authentication data is transmitted externally.

Third-Party Services

Kakuremi uses the following third-party services:

• Apple StoreKit — for processing in-app purchases (Kakuremi Pro). Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy. SpringHiker Inc. does not receive or store your payment information.
• Google favicon service — if you enable website icons, the site's domain is sent to Google to fetch an icon. Your credentials and vault contents are never sent.
• Have I Been Pwned — if you enable password breach-check, only a partial, anonymized hash (the first five characters of a SHA-1 hash) is sent. The password itself never leaves your device.

Website Analytics (kakuremi.com)

The privacy guarantees above describe the Kakuremi iOS app itself, which never transmits your passwords or vault data. This marketing website (kakuremi.com) uses two privacy-friendly tools for aggregate traffic measurement:

• Google Analytics 4 — measures aggregate pageviews, referrers, and visitor geography. Cookies are set only after you accept via the consent banner. IP addresses are anonymized. All visitors are presented a clear consent choice before any tracking cookies are set.
• Cloudflare — hosts the site and provides essential security features (DDoS protection, rate limiting). Cloudflare's privacy policy applies.

To revoke analytics consent at any time, clear the "klaro" cookie or click the consent banner when it next appears. We do not sell or share visitor data with third parties beyond these two providers' standard processing. The app and the website are separate concerns — website analytics has nothing to do with the app, which never transmits your passwords or vault data.

Technology

Kakuremi's core engine is written in Rust — a memory-safe language that provides strong guarantees against common security vulnerabilities.

Children's Privacy

Kakuremi is not directed at children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no data from any user, no special provisions are necessary.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
